Upcoming Day Trips
Legacies of West Texas Day Trip
Tuesday, May 27, 2025
Spanning over 140,000 acres of land near Guthrie, TX, the Four Sixes Ranch is among the most storied businesses in Texas! It was founded by Captain Samuel “Burk” Burnett in 1870 when he purchased 100 head of cattle wearing the “6666” brand from Frank Crowley of Denton, Texas. It has become even more famous in recent years thanks to shows written and produced by the new owner, Taylor Sheridan. A tour of the ranch is planned that morning, then we will enjoy lunch in Dickens at Ponderosa Barbeque.
After lunch we will get a behind the scenes look at Thacker Jewelry’s factory in Roaring Springs, where this custom jewelry store began in 1979. They proudly serve the people of Lubbock today in their 3,500 square foot showroom, housing an endless collection of Texas’ finest jewelry.
We will meet at the east side parking lot of WalMart (4215 S. Loop 289) at 7:45am and depart at 8am.
The cost is $85 per person and includes your transportation, lunch, and all activities. Payment (cash or check) will be taken at the bus the day of the trip.
