April Day Trip

Bison, Boots, and Beats: A Panhandle Day Trip

Tuesday, April 21, 2026

Join us to experience the rugged beauty of the Texas Panhandle with a ranger-led tour of Caprock Canyons State Park, where bison roam the plains, bats roost in Clarity Tunnel, and prairie dogs build towns!

After enjoying the panoramic vistas of the park, we will drive to Turkey, TX for a tour of Hotel Turkey, a rustic, charming get-away that was built in 1927! Lunch is planned at Turkey Creek Winery, with wine-tasting afterwards. This is a new winery, where every bottle tells a story of craftsmanship, and with each sip we will discover the nuances of flavor and aroma that have been carefully nurtured.

You can’t visit Turkey, TX without stopping at the Bob Wills Museum! The “King of Western Swing” spent most of his childhood in Turkey. His museum is full of artifacts and stories of his rise to stardom. After our guided tour we will stop at Lacy Dry Goods for a little small-town department store shopping, then say goodbye to Turkey, TX.

We will meet at the east side parking lot of WalMart (4215 S. Loop 289) at 7:45am and depart at 8:00am.

The cost is $90 per person and includes your transportation, lunch, and all activities. Payment (cash or check) will be taken at the bus the day of the trip.
