With all the unknowns with travel these days we decided to keep our fall foliage tour within the United States. And there is nothing like the beauty of the northeast in October!
We begin our fall foliage excursion from Lubbock and spend the night in Marshall, TX the first night. The next day we head to Birmingham, AL, and then on to lovely Charlotte, NC after that. Next, we will travel on to Linthicum Heights, MD (Baltimore). On our way to Providence, RI we are stopping at the Old State House, the oldest state house in the nation, in Harford, CT. The next morning, we will head to Newport, RI where we will enjoy a trolley tour, which covers over 150 points of interest, including the famous Newport mansions. After enjoying some time in Salem, MA and Hampton Beach we will overnight in Portsmouth, NH. On our way to Bar Harbor, ME the next day we will make our way along the coast and stop in Kittery, Nubble Light, Kennebunkport, Old Orchard Beach, and Portland. Once in Bar Harbor, ME we will spend two nights right on the coast and enjoy an authentic lobster bake, and a fully narrated step-on guide will join us for a tour of Acadia National Park. Acadia National Park is the Crown Jewel of the North Atlantic Coast! We depart the next morning and drive to New Hampshire to hop on The Mount Washington Cog Railway (the first mountain-climbing cog railway in the world) and make our ascent to the summit of the highest peak in the northeast. We will overnight in St. Johnsbury, VT, then head to Montpelier, VT the next day for a tour of a real maple farm and make our own Sugar on Snow! Next, we journey to the general store of yesteryear at The Vermont Country Store. Then on to Deerfield, MA to see and shop at the Yankee Candle Village Store. you might even be able to customize a candle! We will then overnight in Northampton, MA. As we start making our way south, the next two nights will be spent in Altoona, PA, and Indianapolis, IN. After that we travel to Excelsior Springs, MO and stay at the historical Elms Hotel & Spa. The hotel provides a fun ghost tour of the property each night! Continuing south, we will overnight in Oklahoma City, OK our last night before traveling home to Lubbock. As always, there will be lots of surprise stops along our journey!
