Pacific Coast, Crater Lake, & San Francisco

August 19-31, 2020

We are leaving the Texas heat behind this August and traveling to the Pacific Coast! Our tour begins in Lubbock, overnighting in Durango, CO, Salt Lake City, and Nampa, ID on our way to Cascade Locks, OR where we will enjoy a brunch boat tour on the Columbia River Gorge and Multnomah Falls. The afternoon will be spent with a step on guide tour of fun and crazy Portland, OR that includes the International Rose Test Garden. After spending the night in South Portland, we travel to Crater Lake National Park where a park ranger will meet our bus for a tour of the park and America's deepest lake! Leaving southern Oregon, we then make our way into California, following the coastline through Crescent City (located on a beautiful crescent-shaped bay) and stopping for photo ops in Humboldt Redwoods State Park then overnight in Fort Bragg, CA. The next morning we check out the glass beach in Ft. Bragg, then wind along the coast through Mendocino, Marshall and Point Reyes, stopping to see the lighthouse and get a sense of the magnitude of the San Andreas fault line. Continuing along the coastline we will drive into San Francisco and stay two nights right on the water of the San Francisco Bay! The next day will be spent exploring Alcatraz and San Francisco's eclectic neighborhoods and tourist hot spots. After leaving San Francisco, the next day we will travel to Pigeon Point Lighthouse (the tallest lighthouse on the U.S. Pacific Coast) and Big Sur, then stopping for a tour of the famous Hearst Castle in San Simeon. We will overnight in wine country, Paso Robles, CA, then begin our journey home the next morning with overnights in Kingman, AZ and Albuquerque, NM. As always, there will be surprise stops along our journey!
