Bluebonnets & Painted Churches

Bluebonnets & Painted Churches

March 26-28, 2018

What better way to welcome the spring season than to enjoy the “the lovely petals of Texas”!  But what are painted churches?  The painted churches are primarily located in the central Texas area.  The churches were built in the late 1800s or early 1900s and are painted (decorated) inside.  Some were painted by travelers as a gesture of appreciation for services the church provided.

We will travel to Fredericksburg for our first night stay, allowing a little time for shopping and dinner downtown.  The next morning, we drive to Schulenburg where a tour guide will give us a tour of the beautiful painted churches that morning, enjoy lunch at Oakridge Smokehouse, and then continue our tour that afternoon.  We will overnight in San Marcos, then begin our journey back to Lubbock the next day, stopping for bluebonnet photo ops along the way.

The cost is $398 per person/two to a room, $523 per person/single room, and $314 per person/triple room.  The cost includes transportation, lodging, lunch in Schulenburg, activities, & breakfast each morning.  A $100 (per person) reserves your space.  The remainder is due no later than March 19.  Deposit refunds are subject to King’s Highway’s prepaid obligations.

Activity level: low (need to be able to get on/off bus several times a day for painted churches tour)
