Ark Encounter and Creation Museum

Ark Encounter and Creation Museum

September 10-17, 2018

We are headed back to Kentucky this Fall! Our visit to the Ark Encounter last May was so popular we planned a destination trip there this time. The Ark Encounter opened on July 7, 2016, a date (7/7) chosen to correspond with Genesis 7:7: "And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.

The Ark Encounter features a full-size replica of Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible. Spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, this modern engineering marvel amazes visitors young and old. We will also tour the Creation Museum just 30 miles down the road. The state-of-the-art Creation Museum allows you to venture through biblical history, stunning exhibits, botanical gardens, planetarium and a petting zoo.

Leaving Lubbock, we will overnight in Tulsa, OK and then St. Louis, MO as we make our way to Frankfort, KY, where we will stay three nights. Besides our tours of the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum, a trolley will take us to downtown Frankfort for site-seeing and dinner. We have also planned a late afternoon visit to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, the largest restored Shaker village in the U.S. (including dinner).

Heading back to Lubbock we will overnight in Memphis (with a short tour of the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on our way) and in Texarkana.

The cost is $1142 per person/two to a room, $1576 per person/single, and $1006 per person/triple. A $100 deposit (per person) reserves your space. A $500 deposit (per person) is due no later than August 10, with the remainder due no later than September 3. Cost includes transportation, lodging and breakfast each morning, activities, and dinner in Shaker Village. Deposit refunds are subject to King’s Highway’s prepaid obligations.

Activity level: medium (motorized carts available to rent at Ark Encounter/lots of walking at Creation Museum/some walking at Shaker Village)
